If I take it with me overseas, what do I need to do? Install their software on other computer?
Does it work if the computer is off but still connected to Internet connection?
It can be used only to call land line for free or Cell phones as well?

Magic Jack is illegal and/or unusable in some countries.

Yes, you need to install the software to the computer you will run MJ on.
The computer needs to be on for MJ to make and receive calls. I believe its message service can take messages when the computer is off.
You can call any number in the USA Canada for the yearly fee. Calls outside of there will require you but international calling credits.
