I want to start watching anime, but which show is best?

oh you are looking for subtitled anime... ummmm i know that you can get some yu yu hakusho that way on the dvds. Its like a fighting drama and was pretty popular. it use to be on tv in english buy on the dvds you have the option to watch it in japanese with english subtitles.

I definitely recommend Naruto. It has such a huge fan-base, probably one of the most popular anime/manga that there is out there.

You'll get so wrapped up in the storyline, you'll get attached the characters, and be left always wanting to watch the next episode or read the next manga volume.

But as previously mentioned. Vampire Knight is also a good one. Fullmetal Alchemist is good too! I've heard Death Note is quite amazing...but unfortunately I haven't gotten to it yet.

If you want to learn japanese, then you might want to watch subtitled anime.

I suggest Vampire Knight, it was the first real Anime I watched, and I still love it to this day. I also suggest Death Note, it's so popular. It's hard to find an anime fan that hasn't seen/or read it.

Yeah, gaara lover had a good list, and subbed copies are the way to go. Try searching Veoh.com or youtube.com for anime. I liked "Toradora" "Tsukaima no Zero", Princess Lover", "Special A", "Fruits Basket", "Samurai Champloo", and any Miyazaki movies like "Spirited Away". There are tons of decent subbed anime out there going back 20 years. Have fun.
