Hmm that would b real nice. but the truth is 16 year old's r still not mature enough a 18 year old is more mature n can decide abt things like politics way better. SO i think no it shouldnt b reduced 2 16.

Actually, I think the legal age of voting should be raised to 19. Voting is, or should be, a mature responsibility. By that, I mean it should be done by a well reasoning, well informed person. Some people reach that level at age 12, and some could very well argue that the vast majority of U.S. voters never reach it!
But in this case you have to draw a line somewhere, and I'd make it 19, and I would also raise the age at which young men have to register for the draft to 19 too (I'd also make it that women have to register for that as well, but that's another story.)
I choose 19 because if you can't ensure that everyone is "mature" enough to vote, I feel the voters should at least be in a position where they are more likely to feel the consequences of their votes. Most people age 16, 17 and 18 are still in high school and still living with parents or other adults in situations that would tend to shield them from the consequences of their votes. They don't have a substantial tax burden, for example, are less likely to be married, paying tuition or their own car insurance, buying their own food, clothing and providing their own shelter.
But by the time we're 19 a large number of us are moving out of the family home and finding out what it is to live on our own, and at that point we're starting to experience additional responsibilities that by and large will tend to make us more responsible voters.

No definitely not the government is already thinking of increasing the driving age because the are finding just aren't responsible enough at 16 so to have to make the decision on who is going to run our future isn't a good idea people at that age can't handel it.

No. You young people can't read, comprehension skills are a joke, have no idea what a Budget is and still live at home for free. What insight could you possible have as to the best candidate and their ability to fulfill their obligations. In fact age should be returned to 21.

Why not at 12?

I do not think so because the mind is not as fully developed at 16 compared to 18.
It is proven that a lot can happen in your brain in two years.
Also you don't have as much experience,
you are not a legal adult, etc etc...

I believe personally that if you lowered the voting age any further, you would have a bunch of uneducated citizens changing our country... So i think if anything the voting age should be raised... i hope this helped...

No because they will not be trusted with most things because of how young they are, while if people were eighteen years old they would have more knowledge and are more mature on their choices.
