My babys eyes moved from left to right and right to left fastly. What can it be?
I have 5 and half month old son. He is very healthy. I had no problem till yesterday evening. He didn't catch flu even when i had it. Yesterday night he woke up and i started breast feeding him. And i noticed his eyes moving fast left to right and right to left. It lasted a few seconds only. He had no fever, no cramps, nothing else. only stopped moving and his eyes moved so. Then i hold him in my arms, turned light on, he was all normal again, he smiled at me, he moved his legs and arms, he was all normal. Then i tried to make him sleep again but his eyes moved again. for a few seconds. it happened 4-5 times yesterday. then fall asleep.i have been watching him since yesterday, control his fever, eyes, movements. nothing is abnormal yet. But what was it yesterday? I am worried.

My son's eyes did the same thing for a few weeks when he was about 1 year old. Freaked me out! At first I thought he was having seizures, but his behavior never changed when it happened. He would turn to look at me and his eyes would move side to side very fast, like pendulums. I told my pediatrician, but he was never concerned about it. Then it stopped happening a few weeks later.
To this day, I have no idea what it was, but both my mom and I saw it happen. My son is a normal, healthy 5 year old now. Regardless, mention it to your pediatrician if it continues to happen. There is a name for this and it supposedly is an eye-muscle related disorder, not something from an infection. Perhaps your son's will go away like my son's did.

Sounds like a blocked tear duct to me, which is very common in little babies. You are doing the right thing by keeping it clean and with cooloed boiled water. When the tear duct is blocked the tears cannot drain into the nasal cavity as they usually do and so well up in the eye and cause the 'crusting'. Often the tear duct unblocks itself and resolves but you can help unblock it by ever so gently massaging in the corner of your baby's eye in a semi circular motion. Often a blocked tear duct resolves on its own, if not go see your doc and get referral to a specialist where a very small probe is inserted into the tear duct to unblock it. This is performed by a specialist opthamologist, the procedure is simple and usually best done in the first few months as there is no need to sedate the child or for general anaesthetic. My daughter has the same thing at the moment she is three weeks old and it is starting to go away with the gentle massage. Hope this helps!!

You should definately ask the doctor...it ould be nothing as they're eyes are not finished developing at this age....but better safe thaan sorry.

I would take him to the doctors, cause that is also a sign of a seizure(sp?)
