The internet on the iPhone 3GS?
I recently purchased an iPhone 3GS, but whenever I am out and about i can't get the internet. Do i have to do something to be able to use it? Wherever i am it just comes up with the messages- "Cannot connect to Safari" and then straight after this message appears- 'Cannot connect to a cellular network" Is there a problem with the phone?
How much does the data plan cost to join? Im on pay as you go, if that helps.

No nothing's wrong with the iPhone. It sounds like you didn't take the data plan when you bought it. Also you aren't using wifi. If you don't have a data plan and or not using wifi then there is no internet access on the phone, therefore you would get those messages.
If you don't want to pay for the data plan but still want internet access, go to the Settings app & tap wifi. It will search for available hotspots, log into one that is either unsecured or one which you have access to. Then you should have wifi internet (which is faster than 3G anyway). If no wifi is available then thats just the way it has to be.

The iPhone 3gs is exclusive to AT&T. It's only sold with a 2 year contract that includes a mandatory unlimited data plan. It is also wifi enabled.

that simply means that u are using Wlan instead of 3g when ur outside..
activate 3g from options
