Moving Date - 4 weeks in advance enough?

Question

I moved in on the 1st of a month and want to move out in a month (15th). My landlady just told me that I have to pay for the entire month though because it's law that I have to give 4 weeks notice - which I did - and because I moved in on the 1st, I can only move out on a 30th or 31st.
So basically what she's telling me is that I have to pay for the rest of the month or stay until the end of the month. Is there such a Canadian law (we're in BC) or is she telling me crap?

If your rent is due on the 1st of the month, then you would have had to give notice on or before December 1st, 2009 in order to move by the 31st. Otherwise, YES, you are obligated to pay the entire rent for January. 

Yes, you have to pay for the entire month. She is not feeding you any baloney.
