Should 'race' as an idea be eliminated? Should people stop clinging to their racial stereotypes?

Okay, lets look at France

Officially speaking, France has publicly "ended racial & ethnic divisions" by enforcing the policy of One people One identity. However, France is, and always has been a multicultural society. There are over 75 ethnic groups within France, and that's not counting the immigrants. But by marginalising them, all they've really done is created a new way of discriminating against non-White, non-"French" peoples.

Ending racial divisions requires fostering mutual respect among people of different backgrounds, its not just about pretending that different communities don't exist. All that does is lead to isolation, marginalisation, and resentment. Countries that pretend that racial divisons don't exist are among the places with the WORST race relations on the planet. Look at Brasil. Look at the Dominican Republic. Societies which claim to be racial democracies have some of the worst racism imaginable. Darkskinned Dominicans who "look Haitian" get deported every day. Black Brasilians have generally NO avenues for social improvement aside from sports, music and entertainment; Brasil is 50% Afrodescendiente and yet you'll never see a Black or Mulatto president there. Ending the idea of race will do NOTHING to stop racism, and in fact it would probably make it worse, since now ANYONE can be racist and NOBODY could prove it.

Race exists. Racial differences exist. The sooner we learn to accept and respect people's racial, cultural and ethnic differences, the better of we'll be. There's no reason to pretend race and racism doesn't exist, all it does is leave the issue unsolved and allows it to fester and develop into something deeper and more problematic.

YES!!! The word race is stupid... technically there is only one race - the human race... and the color of your skin is just another thing that makes you unique... People shouldn't give such offence or take such offence about it....

for example... if you say hmmm I like brown eyes more than blue eyes... no ones all insulted... but if you say you think light skin is better looking than darker people call you a hater. ummm... whats the difference??? I honestly don't care what you like better... and sometimes there is a tedency for genetic or cultural advantages to show up within people groups... for instance, personally i've noticed that in the world "black" people seem to be more likely to have prettier voices and seem more warm, and "white" people tend to have less genetic disease, and tend to be richer, Asians tend to work harder in school , have pretty eyes, but they seem to be in alot of accidents... yes this is from experence.... not everyone fits in with these... but frankly alot do... and it doesn't make you better or worse overall... its just makes life interesting.

I think everyone should be able to see a person, recognize he's black/white/mixed/etc, and not make any assumptions based on those racial features alone. But of course, that's just too much to ask.

lol that would be nice but i see way too many black and white ppl follow with stereotypes here. they live off of stereotypes. plus if stereotypes were gone then i think cops would began to treat everyone equally and thats bad for me because i get away with everything

Yes it really should be .. . everyone regardless of their ethnicity is racist, whether they admit it or not. I feel that everyone is part of the human race and theres no point in going any further than that.

I think they should eliminate it! I feel people think so much about a persons race rather than who that person actually is. People are people. we all have our own personalities.

Blacks need racism as a scapegoat for how incompatent and stupid they are. If they could claim racism for everything, then they would have to get jobs and go off the welfare. Why would they want to do that?

Culture can be preserved, and traditions, sure, but WHO FREAKIN GIVES A CRAP about RACE!?!??! It is so dumb-its just the way someone looks. I hate "race." It's such a dumb concept.
