    The Bible has bits of truth in it. Thou shalt not kill makes sense, after all. But it's a logical fallacy to assume that because a couple of bits of the Bible are true necessarily makes the whole document true.

    Oh, helpful, that "keep in mind the sabbath day to maintain it holy" one, that's concerning *Saturday* via how, is only oh-so-correct at present... 3 of the "commandments" are completely advantageous (do no longer thieve, do no longer homicide, do no longer lie). they're hardly unique to the bible, nonetheless -- they have been uncomplicated regulation between civilizations that have been around long previously mythical moses, and have been written down long previously him too. and there is not any desire for a mythical god to cause them to "commandments" -- all and sundry with a million/2 a strategies can decide those are undesirable issues to do in human society. it incredibly is no longer incredibly a query of "believing" the ten commandments or no longer -- they're only extraordinarily lots valueless, they do no longer seem to be unique, and there is not any could pretend some god gave them out because of the fact the useful ones are only uncomplicated experience. Peace.

    There are 3 that make sense:

    * Don't kill

    * Don't Lie

    * Don't Steal

    Aside from that, they're mostly concerned with how one should worship and the establishment of women as property. And frankly, I don't need a god to tell me that those three rules are a good idea. They're based on the golden rule, which has been described in one form or another by every civilization in human history, since thousands of years before the bible, or even the Torah existed. And that's because we're a social species. We need each other to survive, and doing things that hurt the people you need to survive is always a bad idea.

    Thou shalt not murder is just dumb. If someone breaks into your house or is brutally beating someone it is okay to kill the aggressor.

    If you are starving to death and you steal some food to survive, that should not be a sin.

    There are always exceptions to these stupid rules that the bible has. In real life nothing is completely black and white, and there are always exceptions and if the people who wrote the bible were inspired by an actual god, then reality would be reflected in the doctrine. Instead, it really seems like the bible was written by people who were trying to scare other people into behaving or they were just trying to tell a story.

    You can spell Chihuahua correctly but you can't construct a question that makes ANY sort of sense?

    Do not have any other gods before me. - Why should he have the all the game in town when Christianity is younger than most pagan religions?

    You shall not make for yourself an idol, whether in the form of anything that is in heaven above, or that is on the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth. See above.

    "You shall not bow down to them or worship them; for I the Lord your God am a jealous God, punishing children for the iniquity of parents, to the third and the fourth generation of those who reject me, but showing steadfast love to the thousandth generation of those who love me and keep my commandments." Sounds awful petty to me don't you think? Punishing children for the sins of the fathers and all.

    "You shall not make wrongful use of the name of the Lord your God, for the Lord will not acquit anyone who misuses his name." No comment.

    "Remember the Sabbath day and keep it holy." Doesn't apply to Christians since the sabbath is not part of its teachings.

    "Honor your father and your mother, so that your days may be long in the land that the Lord your God is giving you." Not all parents deserve respect

    "You shall not murder."Common sense and predates the commandments. Murder is wrong. Self Defense however is not.

    "You shall not commit adultery." Well yeah cheating on one's spouse or significant other when you are not in an open relationship is hurtful. Has nothing to do with religion.

    "You shall not steal." Do I really even have to comment?

    "You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor." See above and gossiping is human nature and most of the time its not even true, but we still do it.

    "You shall not covet your neighbor’s house; you shall not covet your neighbor’s wife, or male or female slave, or ox, or donkey, or anything that belongs to your neighbor." Jealousy is a normal human feeling. Taking it to extremes however is stupid.

    1co 14:34 Let your women keep silence in the churches: for it is not permitted unto them to speak; but they are commanded to be under obedience, as also saith the law.

    1co 14:35 And if they will learn any thing, let them ask their husbands at home: for it is a shame for women to speak in the church.

    >>1co 14:{36} What? came the word of God out from you? or came it unto you only?<<<

    I believe in many of the 10 commandments, but I can base it on my own and not rely on a book on what to believe is moral.

    Stupid. We don't believe in your god. Some, (some) of the 10 commandments actually make sense. Stop telling us what we believe because you don't know what we believe. As shown from this question.

    Well, i am a christian, and some of the statutes and ordinances were made of no affect (we dont have to do them) from Christ on the cross.

    Colossians 2:14-17

    14 Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross;

    15 And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it.

    16 Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days:

    17 Which are a shadow of things to come; but the body is of Christ.

    like the sabbath, we do not have to observe the day, but we must observe the LORD OF THE SABBATH EVERYDAY...who is JESUS the CHRIST.

    I am a christian, and not an athiest.
