What to do for a steam burn with boils?

Friday afternoon I was cooking and I stupidly lifted the lid inward and the steam burned my thumb. I immediately ran it under cool water for 5 to 10 minutes to stop the initial cooking. I didnt have anything to use so I toughed it out. It didn't look like much except for a red thumb on the inside and out. Well the next morning when I was getting my shoes on I used my thumb not thinking because it wasn't in major pain. When I slipped my shoe on my foot caught my thumb and broke a blister I didn't even know I had. I looked down and realized I had two blisters. Now one is popped and one isn't. The one that is popped is giving me the most grief. I went out and bought Neosporin and slathered it on it but didn't cover it.

I was wondering would the redness be from the initial burn 48 hours later or could this be a sign of infection? When I press the red area it is painful but it still could be the burn. I just don't know.
