If Hitler was supposedly an Atheist than why this?
http://www.nobeliefs.com/nazis.htm?
About halfway down that page is a picture of ranking Nazi officials and a member of the Vatican, who would later become Pope Pious XII, signing a document legitimizing the Nazi government.
Just to clarify, I know that Hitler was not an Atheist. His potential status as an Atheist is generally used by sky-daddy believers as a reason why Atheists are bad.

Adolf Hitler was not an atheist. He started as a Christian and later adopted beliefs which were a mixture of occultism and ancient religions. He claimed as Nazi leader that he was a Christian and founded the 'Reich Church', a branch of Christianity intended to be compliant with the Nazi state.
In their propaganda against the Jews, the Nazis relied heavily on Martin Luther, who turned on the Jews in Germany when they would not convert to the Protestant faith.
He also made a treaty with the Vatican, the 'Concordat', which offered protection to Catholics if they did not oppose the Nazi regime (btw many of them did).
Oli, the Horst Wessel song was written to commemorate a brownshirt who was killed in a street brawl. The sentiments expressed in the song are not atheism but an attack on those Christians who were opposed to the Nazis. Those same brownshirts who sang that song later went into battle wearing belts with the words 'Gott Mit Uns (God With Us)' inscribed on the buckle.

Hitler is only known as an atheist due to the Religious groups trying to pawn him off on the atheists to further there point that faith is required to be moral.
On the other hand he is only known as a devout catholic due to the atheist side trying to prove that faith is the cause of all evil.
Little evidence is given for either side and the strong evidence points towards a personal faith based upon Catholicism but warped beyond most recognition.
The frequent debates of Hitler's faith are not really about the man and are really about what he symbolizes as the embodiment of evil with both party's trying to force him upon the other

A "concordat" is the equivalent of a treaty when the agreement is between the church and a state.
In 1933, the Nazis had just legally come to power in Germany and no one knew the depths of tyranny to which Nazi Germany would sink in the next decade.
In countries where the national constitution did not guarantee the freedom of religion, it was the practice of the most major religions to negotiate for that freedom and then sign a concordat (treaty) to protect it.
By the way, shortly before signing the concordat with the Catholic Church, Germany signed similar agreements with the major Protestant churches in Germany.

Hitler officials signing a document at the Vatican does not prove anything. I signed documents at the bank last week, does that make me a banker?
Hitlers eugenics programs and mass murders, now that says something about the man.

Hitler was raised Catholic, never renounced his faith, was never excommunicated and OFTEN invoked "God" in his speeches. Those who say he was an atheist are either lying or are misinformed. Even if Hitler was an atheist, the great many of Germans who followed him, loved him, did his bidding, were not. For some reason, many people seem to think Hitler acted alone...
"Gott Mit Uns"!

the catholic church felt it had to make an agreement with the nazi government in order to save the lives of many many more.
the nazis just needed a foreign body to recognize it as a government to "officially" make it a governing body

Hitler claimed to be a Catholic, though he obviously wasn't. He believed he had a God-given duty to eradicate Jews. He was, of course, insane.

Who said he was supposed to be an atheist? I thought everyone knew he was a christian.
"I am now as before a Catholic and will always remain so."

Hitler was not an atheist, he was a christian. He was raised and lived his life as a person of faith.

If Hitler was a Christian why this
A Hitler Youth Marching Song
We follow not Christ,
but Horst Wessel
Away with incense and holy water
The church can go hang for all we care,
the swastika brings salvation on earth.
