some think that there is no life after death?

There is life after death. We go into a holding pattern until that appointed time. When Jesus is ready all will be judged. We will be sent to either hell or Heaven. The record of all the deeds we did when we were on the earth. All will get a reward for our deeds. Some get the pleasure to be with Satan in the pit of hell and the rest will be in heaven with JESUS.

The devil people will be gnashing of teeth and be in the lake of fire forever and have no relief from their torment.

In heaven, we will have the fruit of the spirit: Love, joy, peace and the wonderful gift the Father deems worthy of his children.

No more worry, tears, no pain, no hurt feelings and Joy that the bible speaks about. OH, what a day that would be.

Will you be there?

You seem to be worried that you are going to be dead longer than you are going to be alive, well.... Things, such as life have to end at some point, and your time will come, and you shouldn't be worried, cause you won't be here to worry about it...And the sperm and egg had the potential for you to exist, life dies, but the matter that was you never goes away. Matter cannot be created or destroyed, only rearranged into different atoms to create different things, so the atoms that make up your body could become something else later on.

You're playing a semantic game. It's like saying that more things don't exist than those things that do exist.

You will be around for 70-80 years, so you will -not- be around for the great majority of time, both before and after. But non-existence is not a real category, in the way existence is. In other words, non-existence doesn't really 'exist'. 8^)

Nobody really knows what happens when we die. People believe one thing or another, but if they say they -know- they are only pretending to know.

The actual evidence is that our personalities live in our physical brains. For instance, you need a very tiny amount of iodine every day for your brain to work, maybe a millionth of a gram per day. If you don't get it, it can cause huge changes in your personality! Relatively minor physical injuries to your brain can cause personality changes too. So it's hard to explain how your personality could live on after your brains stops functioning altogether and rots into dust.

The non-living come into existence through the biological reproduction of the living.

And you asked "why" we're going to be dead longer than we're alive?

I don't think there is a "why." We just are. Every living organism is basically a self-contained anti-entropy unit -- taking in and processing energy can allow our living bodies to stave off entropy for a short period of time, but in the end there's no beating it entirely. Entropy wins, bodies decay and die. We pass on our genes as a form of "immortality," and that's all we get. There is no "why" other than the simple fact of entropy.

You need to ask yourself whether death and your life style without Christ is one of the same or not.

One death being the end of a physical life, separated from the life of God is one death yet life in the dark, spiritually speaking, in cahoots with intelligently organized sinfulness, being a partaker of spiritual death, which is a spirit of lusts.

And the second death is when one, no longer has either or. That is no life as you have this moment in the flesh, although sepaarted from the life of God, (which by the way pertains to eternal life and godliness) either is the lake of fire that burns for EVER. Now if that is what your brain has come up with to denounce truth, or make a spectacle out of it (mockery) than yes your life with satan in the lake of fire is going to last forever, longer than the life of darkness you now live in the flesh, spiritually speaking, the second death, Revelation 21: 8

Because our lives are shorter... than infinity? An organism's life span is not going to be infinite, the only way for their life to be alive longer than they are dead.

If you study the basic mechanisms of plant growth and chemistry, you will find that atoms can be arranged into different molecules, and after you die, all the stuff in your body will decompose to become worm feed or used to grow grass. First Law of Thermodynamics.

specific chemicals in a catalyst can replicate themselves. thats how non-living things came into life. primitive cells were made like this. this is called abiogenesis and there are many theories.

we cant live longer than death because current universe has a very long lifespan, 13 billion years, while we live for 40 to 90 years. cells oxidize and thats why we age. we wont live for hundreds of years until we discover how to prevent oxidation. unless if you eat blueberries and green tea that have anti-oxidants but they're not good enough.

and yes, there is no afterlife. where is this place? in what dimension? its only a theory made by bronze age people. even if it does exist, no one will relax on a cloud because you need active brains to comprehend and brains die after 10 seconds without oxygen. you can find evidence for heaven, like its physical location (there's no spiritual location, all things are happening in a physical form, even love is hormones in brains that make you happy), but you still need evidence if you will even comprehend in afterlife.

I dislike the idea of dying, I admit it, no one likes it, but I wont act holier than thou like christians usually do with their heaven.

Even if that were true, once I raise my child I would be fine with that. People have created hell on earth and I won't mind being relieved of it all, even if it were just sleep without dreams for eternity. I believe in God however and I hope that someday people will learn that what we have in our minds and hearts is what we create on earth. Maybe someday the world will learn to create heaven on earth as Jesus prayed for it to be... and I very much hope so, for my son's sake and for the other children of the world's sake.

You failed biology class, didn't you?

I just see it as, when you die, that is the end. The end of conciousness. Just like when you pass out or maybe when someone is in a coma, you dont just lie their staring into the back of your eyelids you are not aware and when you wake up it feels like you only just closed your eyes when you've been passed out for 2 or 3 hours. Thats what I think happens, its just you can never regain conciousness and thats just it. Nothing.
