Who thinks Hendrick motorsports and especially Chad Knaus get special treatment from nascar?

it all boils down to the #88 not performing like the #48. if the roles were reversed then no one would be complaining. besides, wouldn't it make more sense for nascar to favor someone else other than johnson? 'we' now loathe a driver/crew chief/owner because they win too often...how much sense does that make? the chase has been around for several years now and all of the drivers are aware of the format. if people really hate the chase, nascar and johnson that much then why watch or complain about it. i'm an avid mark martin fan and as much as i want martin to win...the #48 performed better. the guy has won 4 of the chase races alone...how exactly does that make him suck?

I don't know about "special treatment", but all of this would be a non-issue without the chase. JJ would have only 1 championship (so far) and NASCAR would have a lot more credibility than it does today. NASCAR, especially Brian France, is all about cheap gimmicks now. Now those gimmicks are turning fans off.

NASCAR doesn't reward season-long consistency anymore. They only reward consistency in the last 10 races. A 36-race season should boil down to skill more than luck.

So we're about to see history? Big deal. I would be applauding the 48 team if they won these consecutive championships under the old points system. Now that would have been impressive! Consecutive championships won under the chase? Not so much.

I don't. Hendrick would like to have had 5 cars in 2010 just like Roush, but Helton in his ultimate wisdom nixed that idea. He'd rather have 5 start and park cars rather than 43 competitive cars. If the 48, 5, and 24 were cheating, they would have been caught. They just make good cars, have the best 3 drivers in the sport and hire great crews. People do not like them because they win.

Honestly, I don't care if any team can dominate and win consecutive championships if they did it with the points they really earned. Everyone used to say "I like NASCAR because it's not just a game". Well, thanks to the chase NASCAR is a friggin' game. The 48 team just knows how to make it work. This is racing?

Jimmie Johnson fans are always telling people to stop being crybabies because their drivers should have been able to step up just like Jimmie did! Excuse me? Some drivers did. It's just that NASCAR thought it would be fun to pull the carpet out from under them and be creative with the points. Give me a break.

If NASCAR is after TV ratings they should try something new. How about this? Maybe next year the championship should come down to an inversion of the top 35 after race 35 - and by fan vote. This wouldn't make NASCAR any more ridiculous than it already is.

Well to some extent they did have an inside scoop when they first started using the COT. There was a no testing policy and everyone though that no testing meant "NO TESTING". Well HMS was testing but they were testing on non-NASCAR tracks. Kind of unfair if you ask me. NASCAR should have defined what no testing meant instead of allowing some teams to test (HMS) and then not making it clear that the other teams could have tested also. That allowed HMS to get an advantage learning the "Car of Tomorrow" cars.

It may not be an obvious type of "special treatment" but it is definitely an advantage.

As a matter of fact they do get special treatment..

They are the only team that NASCAR does a "random" post race inspection on, every single week..

I guess this is a question for a web search event for those who like JJ and CK, but those like yourself who are jealous don't have to because they can point out the special treatment like you. Oh, that's right, you didn't. Good job.

Oh I do, I do. Have known that for years. That is why NASCAR has kept the Chase crap, just for them.
