help me with my exercise please?

I haven't run for three weeks due to runner's knee. I've gotten to the point that I can start doing some uphill walking on the treadmill, but still no running. I am seeing a physical therapist and the exercises are definitely helping...three weeks ago I could barely walk. I am doing leg lifts with weights, IT band massages, and stretching and icing. I saw the medical trainer at my college and he said that it will probably be an ongoing problem for me.

Will I ever be able to run again? I'm just concerned because I feel like I can't really run yet and it's been three weeks.

Also, is it normal for the knee to flare up some days and be fine other days, without any changes in shoe or exercise routine?

    I am a weightlifter. 25 years. In April, I had 4-bypass surgery. 6 weeks of no exercise afterwards. Then I went back to the gym. The first day; I could barely lift or do anything. Last week, I am lifting the HEAVIEST weights on the machines.

    Yes, you will run again. Just keep exercising. It DOES return...

    Listen to eye of the tiger when you work out, you'll know the day will come when you turn that machine on high and blow it out.
