My mouse pointer has a mind of its own. How can I fix this?
I have a Dell Latitude D400 and running Windows XP SP 3. I just updated yesterday (not sure if its related though?!?!) and I've been having this problem since.
My mouse pointer would seem normal and motionless for awhile but a short time later it goes over to the top left or top right of the screen.
I've searched Dell's Support Page and downloaded the User's Manual which has nothing to do with disabling the mouse pad. The Technical Guide, on the other hand, shows how to open the laptop and replace the electronic cablings. In short, none helped. Lol.
Anybody had this experience? What did you do?

If your mouse is a wired mouse with a physical ball that rolls in the bottom of the mouse, open up the case around the ball, remove it and clean out the cavity, especially the small rollers inside. Then clean any stuff off the mouse ball and reinstall.
If a wireless mouse, replace the batteries in the mouse.
If the above doesn't work, go to Dell's web site and see if there is an updated mouse driver for your mouse.

I have never had this happen to me. So i really don't know what to tell you. I just need some points so I can ask my own questions. :)
