I really don't care. I like singing and I will sing anyway, it's a cute song. If there was a god I would want them to bless Americas and the entire world too. But I don't believe in that stuff. The lack of the gay acceptance is the main reason why I am an Atheist, some people need to believe in something to feel self worth. I don't care what people do as long as they don't try to convert me or impede on my American given rights of freedom to love.

How do you know all 50,000 are singing? And how do you know they're all referring to the same god?

One of the biggest fallacies I keep seeing on here is the "Well, billions of people believe in god so it must be true" argument. This is incorrect. Just because people *believe* something's true, doesn't make it *actually* true. I'm not concerned with what people believe, I want to know how the universe really *is*.

I could also point out that people in general have a fear of death, and tend toward religion to help explain and comfort them about what's going to happen. I could point out that being an atheist has, and still does, present some social problems and ostracism, leading people to claim religion to "fit in". And so on and so forth. Believing in something because it's easier or more comfortable is not a sign of strong faith, or even that the idea being believed in is any good; it's just convenient and tells people what they want to hear.

I don't feel anything about it specifically. Its like the national anthem of the UK "God Save the Queen" when conservative figures are 25% aren't theists and other polls have up to 44% at this point. Yet most wouldn't care about singing "God Save the Queen" as its an old cultural tradition. Same with "God Bless American" I guess. Or saying Thursday when you don't actually believe in Thor. I do think its a dumb song though.

I was raised Christian and thought about the basis of the beliefs for a long while before giving it up. I know what I'm missing and am fine with it.

See The Song God Bless America was written hundreds of years ago we should move on.

Plus at most baseball games they sing the National Anthem which is almost worse than God Bless America...

have you ever been to a baseball game?

dude, most people are drunk anyway.

and, less than about 30% of our nation even knows the words to the Star Spangled Banner - I seriously doubt that they will know the words to God Bless America.

people can sing what they want. does not mean i have to listen or join in.

btw - no, i'm not missing out. but, i bet you are.

Haven't been to any where they do as I recall - but if so, I'd probably sing along - that's a song of praise about America, not God. However, I would doubt it would have any more impact on what happens to the US than wishing on a star does.

I've never been to a ball game where they sung that song. The generally sing the National Anthem "Star Spangled Banner."

The fact that 75% of Americans claim to be Christian has absolutely zero effect on my beliefs. Remember what your mom used to ask? "So if all your friends decided to jump off a bridge, would you do it too?"

Don't like baseball so I wouldn't go to a game.

im more agnostic, as i see atheism being pompous and kind of douchey. But, it really shouldnt matter. Like if i'm a jew and people are saying the Hail Mary, i wouldnt feel uncomfortable. The only times your here about people feeling this uncomfortable with another persons beliefs, is when athiesm is involved. Its youre whole "i want to be agaisnt everything", instead of respecting boundaries.

They sing the National Anthem at baseball games, not "God Bless America". And I sing right along.

Kind of in the same way that I earn, spend, and invest money that has the word "God" printed on it. It's just a word.
