Times are changing. Are you?

I recently noticed a marque sign in front of a local church as I passed by. It read "Times are changing. WE ARE NOT!". To me this was sad because the churches need to reconsider all their policies and make changes where necessary. What are your thoughts on this?

as many versions of the old scriptures that don't agree.

I am surprised at that declaration.

They do change with the times, but the basic gospel message never changes. It's timeless.

Do you go to the church? How can you judge them if you've never been there to even know what the sign means? Churches constantly redefine themselves to suit the lifestyles of the congregation. Still, God will always be the Head of the church, and salvation still comes from a personal relationship with Christ.

there are certain things that definitely need changing. now changing your moral standpoint or beliefs no. acceptance maybe. but churches in my opinion are all organized. i dislike organized religion, the catholics think theyre right so do the baptists etc. why should the church change theyre opinion just because of the way things are now though. there has to be some point where something crosses the line. well im totally babbling lol, but basically depending on what policies youre talking about it could be a totally different answer!

I don't think that the sign was referring to the little things. I'm inclined to think that it's trying to say that the essence of the religion, the practices and traditons it all boils down to will stay the same for them, even if the entire world won't wait.

times have always been changing. the Pharaohs of egypt thought they were on top of the world, then the romans, the persians etc etc etc, now it is america, tomorrow it may be china.

what i am saying is, the world keeps changing, people keep changing and civilizations keep evolving, but remember islam will never change and allah will never bend for the children for adam (pbuh) it is they who must bend for allah, even if that means they go against their man made laws of the time.

I think the message was, the WORLD is changing, murders, rapes, children coming up missing, husbands killing their wives, wives killing their husbands, the prisons are full to the brim.. etc., but the Children of God will NEVER change in as far as God being first and foremost in our lives..... Faith is unchanging... the Word of God does NOT change even though the world is going NUTS and falling apart, the Word of God stands just as strong today as it did 1000's of years ago for those who believe and stand on it.... go in peace.... God bless

Yes, but if they updated and altered their policies, they wouldn't be founded on any 'ancient teachings' and would therefore be a man-made religion.

christianity hates change. Progress is it's enemy.
