Why are DVI-I monitors made with a low contrast and lighting?

I'm looking for a 24" DVI-I monitor. High end video cards use DVI-I, but most monitors use DVI-D which really sucks for me. So I see Eizo has 2 24" monitors SX2462W and SX2461W,but something is really odd. The SX2462W only has a contrast ratio of 850:1 even though they make monitors with 1000:1 contrast ratio. The CD/M^2 is only 270 yet they make them with 300 and even 360. The SX2462W only has a contrast ratio of 850:1 even though they make them with the DVI-D at 1000:1, but at least it has a 300 CD/M^2. EIZO is not the only company that has these weak stats in otherwise desirable monitors. Is there a reason for such poor stats on DVI-I 24" monitors?

    No, it isn't the interface, it's the choose of panel used on the monitor. LCD's are made from several different panels;

    TN - low to medium quality

    S-PVA/MVA - medium to high medium quality

    S-IPS/H-IPS - high quality (however, low contrast on early models)

    S-IPS/H-IPS panels are generally considered the best all around panel type, but they are more expensive and very few are made. High end, expensive.

    S-PVA/MVA panels offer better color reproduction and viewing angles than TN panels, have slightly worse response times than TN or S-IPS, offer the best contrast ratios, may suffer from color shifting or input lag and have higher availability than S-IPS panels. Mid range, fair price.

    TN panels are very cheap and have the fastest response times, but suffer from inferior color reproduction, contrast ratios and viewing angles. Low end, inexpensive.

    The model you are looking at is a IPS and is plaqued by low contrast spec's. Typically TN/PVA/MVA have a higher response and contrast rate but have a weaker area of display.
