2007 vehicle has rust on roof?
Hi,
This weekend I discovered rust on my 2007 Nissan Frontier Extended Cab. It is on the roof in the rain gutters as I am calling them. The paint has flaked away down about a 6" strip and most of where the paint is missing, there is rust. I just took it to Nissan who had their service person come out and take pictures and he sent me on my merry way. He said he had to wait to hear from Nissan before doing any paintwork. I heard another guy say "Isn't there supposed to be weather stripping up there?" The guy that took the pictures said yes. There was never any weather stripping up there and I am the only owner of this vehicle. It has 18,500 miles, if that matters.
What are all of the possible options? I've made 25 payments and I'm not happy about them doing "paintwork" because we all know it will never be as good as factory paint.
Thanks for any advice, tips or stories of your own you share.
no, I dont use dish soap. and I'm not paying a single red cent to have this repaired and you or your g/f probably shouldn't have either. that's what warranties are for and it is covered under warranty, but I am not thrilled my truck didn't have the weather stripping and now has to have the paint repaired.

Nissan should still cover it under the warranty. Let them see what they want to do, you can even contact Nissan customer service and let them know. Do not take it to a body shop for estimates, you will be wasting your time. Chances are very good Nissan will take care of it. A 2007 vehicle should not have paint failure yet, regardless of what kind of soap you used to wash it. Dish soap will strip the wax from the paint, not cause a whole paint failure. If they forgot to install weatherstrip, then that is just poor quality control, and most likely they will fix it and repaint the portion of the truck affected. And "paintwork" as you call it, can be every bit as good, if not better than the factory paint job. I have seen it where "paintwork" actually comes out better since it is done by hand not by a robot on a line.

Paint possibly come off, for example my girlfriend bought new Vechiles in 2007 and then now 2009 the front hood paint come off and some area have rust on it. so i figure paint come from rain, sun, etc...
Did u use Dish soap to wash car??? If so that will cause it...
Go to body shop to paint... we did our last month it only cost me 250 dollars to paint the whole hood..
