Christians: What does this mean to you?

To live is Christ and to die is gain?

Is this speaking of death as in physical death or death to our own will or both?

Physical death brings eternal life in the spirit. Flesh is what keeps us from God. Once we die of the flesh, we can be in God's presence.

I got the meaning like this:

Its paul said. For him, living is for christ and to die is, he can be with Jesus forever. Its physical death. He mean, if he die (if god takes his life)or if anybody kill him because he stands for christ, its happy for him because its a gain for him to be with Jesus. Paul faced lot of oppositin from Jews because he became a desciple of Jesus.

Be a child of God by accepting Jesus as your personal saviour. So that when you read and study Bible, Holy spirit will open your inner eyes and will understand the meaning.

To live is to first believe in Christ. That is the way to heaven. But to get to heaven this flesh body must die. So to die is to gain. Get it ??

Jesus has eternal life and it is only in Him we can attain eternal life and to die in Christ, that is to die has a true believer is the ultimate, so we gain eternal life in Christ.

I believe it is saying that whilst we live it should be to do Christ's will and then when we die we will gain life everlasting WITH Him.

    Both.

When Christ is our primary reason, we are able to turn ourselves over to Him whether we live or die.

    Both

Both. We grow in faith and holiness in this life through dying to (removing ourselves from) those worldly things that lead us into sin, and once our earthly life is over we gain everything by entering into eternal life.

I'd say it would make more sense, if it is a christian quote, that "to die" is to die to self.

    This is clearer:

Mercy can satisfy the demands of justice, and encircles those who repent in the arms of safety, while he that exercises no faith unto repentance is exposed to the whole law of the demands of justice; therefore only unto him that has faith unto repentance is brought about the great and eternal plan of redemption.

    Therefore may God grant unto you, my brethren, that ye may begin to exercise your faith unto repentance, that ye begin to call upon his holy name, that he would have mercy upon you;

Yea, cry unto him for mercy; for he is mighty to save.

Yea, humble yourselves, and continue in prayer unto him.

    -Amulek
