How to transfer Music on a PC into an I Pod . The drag and drop doesn`t work. Now what.?

Question

All CDs are bought and for private use only. I followed the instruction from the book "the I Pod book" by Scott Kelby. Nothing works. 
My old computer is consumed by fire and I`m not willing to give Apple new money to get the songs on I tune.I have them on CDs

Well it's best you take the songs on your cd and put them on iTunes if that's not working try saving it to your computor in a file then open the file andright click one of the songs you want on your iPod. Click move your mouse/ click open with> then click iTunes after that go to iTunes plug up your iPod and click the music tab above the piture of your iPod. After that change the settings to sync all music then save. Click sync on the bottom left of the page. When your done the song should be on your iPod (note: you can add more than one song before you sync your iPod.)
