Wellingtons/ rubber boots in the UK?
I'm not from the UK or Ireland, but I love to read English crime stories. In a lot of books there are often some characters that wear wellingtons and/ or a muck and a cap. Most of them even have a pair of wellingtons in their car with them. Is this the truth or is it just a cliche?
In my mind there is now a picture of people with green wellingtons like this http://www.amazon.co.uk/STORMWELL-TRADITIONAL-MENS... and a cap like this http://www.amazon.co.uk/Jaxon-Corduroy-Flat-Brown-...
How right/ wrong am I?

Most people have welly's in their car, just incase an area get floded or muddy, Only posh people (upper class) or older geneation men wear caps and trench coats, mainly farmers

Lmao at Lauren H thinking most people have them in their car. I live in the countryside and don't even own a pair of them and don't know anyone that has unless they either working on a farm, is a doggy person or owns a horse.
The story you were reading sounds like it is a few years old to say the least.

I have lime green Hunters, but not in my car. I only use them to walk my dogs on a country path by my house.
So you are half right (although I don't own any silly hats).
