Do christians really think that...?

Do christians really think that if they pray for something to happen or to be safe it would be just as effective as actually doing something to make it happen ?

some do. some people are christians just because they think God will solve all their problems. he wont do your life for you- thats your job. but he does help. im christian but instead of praying for something to happen, i pray and ask God to give me the courage to make it happen on my own. thats the difference.

Sometimes there are things that we cannot do that only God can do. Sometimes we can get the strength that we need to be an answer to our prayers. I love the book of Nehemiah in the bible that talks about this very thing. He prayed and acted upon what God told Him to do. Action and pray do go together. However, sometimes God is the one that does a miracle, when there is absolutely nothing that we can do. God works through those who pray, and obey what He says when we give Him time to speak.

No. I mean, obviously if you pray 'Oh please make this soda bottle in front of me rise into the air' it's not gonna happen. To make that happen, you have to actually pick the bottle up duh.

We don't think that by praying, God is going to go down and say 'Hey. So and so prayed for you so you get good luck!' It's a lot more subtle then that.

If we just had to pray to get what we wanted, we wouldn't do anything. God still wants us to do things for ourselves. He's not gonna let us laze about while he does all the work

    No.

Christians do not believe that God is their little magic genie in a bottle.

However, they do know at a very profound level that there are times when God intervenes in the natural order.

So, yes, prayer does change things, but not because we are asking...it is part of God's will.

So you wear your seatbelt, lock your door, and pray also.

Not always, but I have much more faith in the work of the eternal God than the works of men.
