How do English native speakers call, what young children do during the minutes between the goodnight kiss and falling asleep? When they sing little songs, play with languae and rhymes, repeat words, combine them with other words with similar or contradictory sounds.

The noise that babies and very small children make when they are learning to form the sounds that make up speech is called babbling.

Talking or singing softly to oneself while half asleep is called murmuring (although this is not specific to children).
