Trying to remember this song...?
I'm trying to remember this one operatic duet but I can't remember the name. All I know that it wasn't in English and that it is something a normal person would recognize.
Can anyone list the famous arias that are duets? (male and female)
I apologize for the vagueness of my question.

For a famous operatic duet of a male & a female, I'd try these:
1. 'O soave fanciulla' from Puccini's La Boheme ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zkeHr0Oz7aA )
2. 'Libiamo' AKA Brindisi from Verdi's La Traviata ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=--eVmKOmSXI )
3. 'La ci darem la mano' from Mozart's Don Giovanni ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=njUNf2TC2mc )
4. 'Papapageno!' from Mozart's The Magic Flute ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=87UE2GC5db0 )
5. 'O Sink Hernieder' from Wagner's Tristan und Isolde ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u2fztz-psXQ )
6. 'Bei Männern, welche Liebe fühlen' from Mozart's The Magic Flute ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mO-h1sPcsKQ )
7. Love duet from Gounod's Romeo et Juliet ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jZO11OSlw2k )
8. 'O nuit d'amour' from Gounod's Faust ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MkaOiU-ceT4 )
9. 'Nuit d'ivresse' from Berlioz's Les Troyens ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q5By6XucMaU )
10. 'Pur ti miro' from Monteverdi's L'incoronazione di Poppea ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aiU9alaW_v8 ).... this one is tricky since Nero could be sing by a countertenor, a tenor, or a mezzo-soprano.
... and, not all that well known (because it's rarely performed), but I'm including because they're my personal favorites, 'M'abbraccia, Argirio/ ecco la tromba' from Rossini's Tancredi ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=erse73SOc1U ) and 'Deserto e il luego' from Bellini's I Capuleti e i Montecchi ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DRijuRgGB3o ).

Checking this later, I did not read the Q through... so this is not answering the male/female combi at all. The first is two female voices, the second two male voices.
Leo Delibes: Lakme; Flower Duet

Bizet, The pearl fishers; Fond du temple saint, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9ekaMQP_Fwc
two of the most commonly famous.

btw, the Flower Duet from Lakmé is sung by 2 females (mostly a soprano and a mezzo-soprano)
