How do I learn colloquial, every day English? (AE+BE)?
Hi there,
I'd really love to learn colloquial English, the everyday language I hear and listen to when consuming podcasts, BBC radio, watching testimonials on YouTube and mailing back and forth with people working in the US or Great Britain. It is just so interesting and although I'm pretty good in English in general, I'm just almost totally clueless about the terms of (modern) colloquial English used by the broad society (I mean also the educated) in the US and GB! I could name a lot of example sentences, but anyway, how can I learn this in a "structured" way? Watching movies in OST (not often in general) and listening to normal podcasts (not that much too) has not really been very helpful until now.
Thanks for your help in advance! :)
Kind regards from Germany

American television? Shows like Family Guy, the Simpsons, King of the Hill are fun to watch and show the regular way people speak. I mean, your talk isn't that formal anyways, so it can't be too hard.

Well, some colloquial English words used in certain parts of the U.S aren't used in other parts, or they're used differently. Really depends where you are.
Sometimes cheddar could mean money, sometimes it could just mean the actual cheese.
However, the basic colloquialisms are pretty much widely used and understood; dunno, lame, etc., etc.
