I need some sleep, come get my dog(and cat):)?
Okay here's another problem Im having. I have two dogs and a cat love them more than words can say but I need a break cause I need some sleep here the problem...Shiloh my pit bull shes a year old I have no problem with her sleeping with me I like the company BUT! for the love of God she refuses to sleep on her side I have explained, lifted her up and placed her on her side but she still sleeps right beside me I mean RIGHT BESIDE ME to the point where I can't move. The cat(mike) is on the other side I know it sounds crazy but they look so peaceful when they are asleep that I hate to wake them up. But I can't sleep God forbid i get up to use the bathroom when I get back they are smack dab right in very spot I was sleeping in. Is this a power thing? Because I mean Shiloh sleeps so close to me its ridiculous the whole night is spent with me trying to move her 50lbs butt off of me. Mason my corgi would do the same if he could manage to get on the bed he's overweight(thank god!but seriously he's on a diet) (I'm seriously thinking about taking up my moms offer and spending one nite over there to get some rest. Another thing with this whole bed issue anytime I'm even laying on my bed shiloh feels the need to stop whatever she is doing to jump up there with me! She isn't even the clingy type mason the corgi is more clingy on the day to day living but at night she is just a mess ..like I said is this a power thing is it that she doesn't like me or what? I spend an enormous amount of time with these guys we go for walks, rides in the car, and trips to the park almost everyday so what is it..HELP!!!
When I say I explained I actually mean I placed toys on her side to lure her over to the other side of the bed. Like I've said I love the three of them to death but truth be told Shiloh isn't the brightest dog I've ever had. Mason the Corgi seems to catch on to things a little sooner so what should I do aside from making her leave the bed completely. I don't want to be mean to her by banishing her though. She looks so sad when I don't let her get in.
@Bee...yes!!!u must have gone through the same thing. I'm like wheat are u doing why are u pushing lol where are u trying to go..u can't get any closer!
@seema..u got a deal but no ringing my bell in the middle of the nite to give them back lol(they are a handful)
@Daisy...thats what I'm thinking this has to be a power thing, but I'm not mean to them in any type of way she shouldn't feel the need to want to over power me. I feed them(maybe to much) give them a lot of love so why the need to overpower? I thought dogs only did that if they were abused.
It seems to mean to crate them they haven't been crated in years, and when I did it kept me up from them whining all nite.

Your dogs don't believe they aren't human! = ) I broke my terrier of the pushing by placing a small pillow between us. And as for the jumping into your sleeping space when you get up it is a sign of loyalty. The dogs want the body heat and your scent, almost in a protective way. You won't be able to break them from that!

It s not a power thing, in fact it has nothing to do with dominance either. It s your dog & cat s way of showing you that they love you. Period. No hidden agenda. Just love for you. Period. I have been training dogs for 40 years, if you want the dog and cat to stay off the bed, you need to retrain them so that they know the bed is off limits. P.S I have 9 cats in the house and most of them sleep in the bed with me. They move according to my movements, most cats will. As for the 50lb bed hog, if you want her to sleep on her own side of the bed, and not the floor, you can forget it. She s just like a woman in that respect. When was the last time you got woman to sleep on her own side of the bed? But if it s training you want for the dog I can retrain her. You must live within 10 miles of Houlton, ME. though

Here's a thought put the dog and cat in a crate or a bed, or you silently get up and move to the couch.

Yes, it is a power thing. I was sleeping with my puppy and it was HELL. I finally put her in the downstairs bathroom and she whimpered a bit a first but now she accepts it and doesn't even try to escape. I put water and her bone and her toys with her, and we all sleep.
It's totally power, she wants to sleep with the alpha, which is you and perhaps even dominate you, this is just dog psychology, google it. I will be healthier mentally for both of you.

Wow, your pets really love you.
But why can't you let them sleep in their crates/pet beds.

I think you should let some on borrow your pets for few days so you can rest peacfully.
