What does this poem mean?
It is called The Lonely Tree, and I was wondering what you guys think it is about, or what it means... thanks.
It was a Tuesday,
Played some ball
Between the corners of Rose and Colorado.
Running in the desert,
The white hot sun
A little short on water, but boy did they have fun.
Now, I know that it’s too late
To turn around,
Pick up my feet,
Get on the ground… and run.
‘Cuz you’ve got a hold of me,
A grip so strong,
You pulled me in,
I just can’t escape.
Shut out my mind,
And stopped my heart,
Ran out of time,
But I didn’t get far,
It’s too late…
Wish I’d been someone like them,
Instead of sitting in that shack,
Waiting ‘round for who knows who…
To come and join me --
At my lonely tree.
I Watched ‘em play their games
While I would read upstairs --
In my lonely tree.
Doubt they ever were aware,
That I was right up there --
In my lonely tree.
Then you called from down below,
Just couldn’t resist the pull,
Finally, someone waiting on me, so…
I leaped right from my lonely tree,
With no one else there to catch me.
Now I’ll rest forever…
In your cold embrace.

With an e e cummings poem, announcing "it extremely is what it means to me" is like attempting to nail Jello to a tree. This poem has continually appeared very professional-feminist, or a minimum of anti anti-feminist. It talks approximately autonomous questioning to me. Effie (a popularity that sounds suspiciously like the be conscious "iffy") apparently not at all theory for herself and all it extremely is left of her crumbly concepts is a bunch of subjunctives: woulda, coulda ,shoulda, musta. Even God seems on those 6 crumbs with puzzlement; even His omniscience can not fathom why a guy or woman could stay her life allowing others to think of for her.

I think the writer of this poem has been through this situation.
She was once free from the prison of love, but one day she fell in love with someone who doesn't love her, so she began to feel lonely. she was looking at her friends that she wished she was like them. she has deep feelings that she thinks no one will understand her.
and she has took shelter in her lonely tree, wishing for someone to care and call her, when the person she has expected and loved calls her and she jumps off from that loneliness into his arms in the hope that he loves her too, she sees that he most probably doesn't love her, and she feels it, so her last hope dies within the his arms. resting forever.

I like this poem over all
there are some parts that are
questionable
the end sounds so final
jeez
lighten up
it is not the end of the world

Someone who watched the world from the safety of their own vantage point, until life passed them by. Great poem.
