Why is Firefox 3.5 so slow?
Since I updated to Firefox 3.5 some sites take considerably longer to load. Esp. Google's search results - I measured times from 10 to 14 sec. - a long time to sit in front of an empty screen (and I do 'cause sometimes the page still loads in a blink.) In the meantime I updated to 3.5.1. Still slooow.
On my other computer I still use Firefox 3.0, no change - still as fast as ever. So please don't tell me it's not Firefox. It is. And it was supposed to be faster?
Any ideas?

Thanks for trying.
But: It's NOT my Internet connection - told you: Firefox 3.0 is still fast on my other computer. Why would add-ons suddenly slow Firefox down? (I didn't add any.)
Maybe there's some 3rd party software that would help - but I don't like adding more to Firefox: And why don't they then fix it themselves?

It's not the internet connection. I'm at a University with a fast connection and Firefox 3.5 has become unbearably slow, especially with multiple tabs. Even at home (DSL), 3.5 is still slow. I think it's something that firefox needs to fix. Best thing to do is log a complaint. If enough people complain maybe they'll release an update to the update.
Like me, you're probably stuck using IE or Opera until they fix the problem. Maybe someone still has 3.0 and you can downgrade that computer. (Chrome is pretty good too, though sometime that bugs out on me. I think Chrome is still having problems loading certain sites and content.)

I have the SAME problem. Started a week ago after the firefox upgrade to 3.5.
Its crazy, if I have more than one yahoo mail browser open now, firefox stalls.

try loading firefox without the addons and see if there is any change.... as such i did not come across any general slowness after upgrading to 3.5
In any case here are some tips which you can look into

Don't know what to tell you. I have 3.0.12 I am very happy with that.
It takes about a second for google, and yahoo to load.

If you are using windows XP, you can try just deleting temporary file.
To clean temporary folders, check and delete all files from these:
C:\Documents and Settings\*user*\Local Settings\History
C:\Documents and Settings\*user*\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files
C:\Documents And Settings\*user*\Local Settings\Temp
C:\Documents And Settings\*user*\Recent
May be it will help you. Thanks.

could very well be your browser settings, or you need to check windows, or linux, or what ever browser your running.
