Economy: is your family doing better or worse?
Every day the news keeps spewing these fluff stories about how things are getting better...
In light of my oldest son just being laid off his Federal Government job yesterday (BIA) I felt compelled to ask...
Is the main stream media right? are things really getting better?
Is your family better off today then it was...
or are things as bad if not worse than before?

towards the end of 2008 it was really bad for my family, we ended up getting our power shut off because we couldn't pay the $256/month bill. we don't live in an extravegant house or anything like that the house we are buying is a $30,000 house. that is cheap for the area i live in, and i live in Iowa. today we are doing so much better and my husband is working 50-60 hours a week and i am and have been a stay at home mom. he brings home about $850 a week, which we can live on. so i would say that we are doing much better than we were at this time last year.

About the same actually, but that's better than it getting worse
The economy didn't really get too bad where I live though. Like the family business hasn't been bringing in as much as it used to for the past decade, but it's nothing too significant. We're still getting by just fine.

I don't know exactly, but in a way, I want the news to tell us that things are getting better. Because in this case, lying about it could actually improve things, by giving people and businesses the hope for a better future, get people investing again, it could possibly help things. I don't know for sure, but I'd rather believe the lie.

My husband and I are in the same boat as a lot of people. It takes time for the economy to improve.
