Knee pain after meniscus was taken out?
I had surgery to remove my meniscus in 2006. I had knee pain and locking of the joint .Since the surgery it has been great until recently.
On July 1 I think I reinjured my knee. It has been locking and in pain. The pain isn't constant but it is great when I get it. I know after the surgery the doctor told me that he removed my meniscus so What could be causing it to lock again if there is no meniscus?
I have an appointment at the end of the month with my Orthopedic surgeon but I was wondering. Maybe there is someone out there that has dealt with something like this and can shed some light beforehand.
Thanks!

I'm a nurse, but my specialty is psych and you sound pretty balanced. I do know that all of our joints can cause lots of problems for many reasons. I'd wait to see your specialist because I think you'll agree that you dont want to mess around with your knees. Good luck and let us know how it worked out.

i had laproscopic surgery to remove tissue from a torn meniscus. i was able to walk after this, but not without some pain. i,ve just had a total knee replacement. i don,t think losing your meniscus is a cure, as the knee function is forever compromised. i,m loo king forward to biking, hiking, etc. you may never be able to do these kind of things well without further intervention.
