Im having trouble to put in my Pura-Filtration-Pad..which part black/white faces into the tank?

I bought that big filtration pad from PURA. one side it white-wool and the other is black with stones and stuff in it..... now im NOT an american so my english isnt so great...  it says.....

Orient the pad so that the white debris-indicating layer faces into the water flow !!!

But does that mean ...agains the water flow which would mean the white part faces into the inside of the aquarium-pump....  

or does it mean with the flow facing....where the water comes out....

im confused and i need some help SOON...cause i dont want to sicken my fish.......

Orient the pad so that the white debris-indicating layer faces into the water flow

the stones & stuff is the carbon

the white side faces the tank (the water flow is the spillway where the water goes back into your tank), and the black side faces the wall, water flows into the filter through the carbon 1st then goes through the white bio pad last then back out into the fish tank

all the filters i have water passes through the carbon 1st then the sponge/pad
