Baby turtle stopped eating, help?

Question

Ok my baby painted turtle (Keto) has stopped eating
BEFORE he would eat fine, i would feed him by hand 2 times a day or so and he also has some plants in his tank that he could eat, he also has guppies but he can't catch them

NOW he wont eat, and he is scared of me, he is also sunning himself a lot but when he is in the water he is usually keeps swimming at the tank walls 
-the water doesn't seem to be cold and he has a very big tank and its not dirty, the only thing he doesn't have is a UVB light which i haven't gotten yet could that be the problem?
Please Help

PS. I'm not going to pay $60 dollars to go see a vet, I don't have the money, so please don't suggest it.

well that IS the problem UV light is essential for all reptiles as in life and death the reason he is not eating is cause his metabolism is shutting down
get a UV light or get him some direct sunshine not through glass as glass filters out most of the UV light you need to do this ASAP

I was just reading about this on the internet. Go to associated content.com. This site says that if it( the turtle) is kept too cold it won't eat. Also UVB light is extremely important. Very impotant for healthy skin, shell and bones. Can develop shell rot.  In addition, the little guy will also need a photoperiod meaning: turn the UVB light off sometimetimes = to like the setting of the sun. Do some research and find out what your particular species requires. Use the internet. It's unbelievable what kind and how much information is out there.

your turtle is trying to get more space when it swims into the walls. get its own sepperate tank thats  about 40 gallons. if it wont eat it means your turtle is too cold. you should try a water heater in the winter but the best is to buy at least a UVA lamp (UVB is the best). it might make a big difference

Listen I know you said don't suggest taking your turtle to the vet but if you don't, your turtle could be in a lot of trouble. I am sorry but you have to if you love him. I'm going to tell you right now that $60 is not a lot to take your turtle to the vet and I know how money situations can be, believe me. I am only telling you this because I care about the turtle. This could mean that he is sick or even depressed and he needs your help. Please do the right thing and ask or borrow money from someone, please!

I have two tutles myself. I went through this problem in the beginning. I was told that the reason my turtles quit eating and moving was because they hibernate once and sometimes twice per year. I do not know if this is the reason for your problem, but did you know they do hibernate?

just put food in there and he'll be fine
i left my turtle in my front yard for years and my family finds him every now and then...just surround him with food
