is it legal for my boss to tax my tips at work? CA labor law questions!?
When people tip in cash I get to take it under the table but when people tip on CC or check it shows up on my paycheck and is taxed. Is this legal in California? It doesn't seem right.

No, you are wrong, when they tip you in cash you must still report it. When you receive tips you are required to pay your US income taxes on the money, it is up to you to keep some back to pay the tax at the end of the year. In California you will also have to pay your state income tax. Not paying income tax will be prosecuted more quickly than a lot of other crimes.
It may not seem right to you, but to those of us who do not get tips and have to pay taxes on our entire income it seems only more than fair.
Good Luck

It is the other way around. It is not legal to not pay taxes on the cash tips. But it is illegal to share tips with managers.

No regulations require an company to be effective or basic. There are no regulations against favoritism or nepotism. Florida ought to have a hard artwork branch to handle court circumstances approximately pay, yet, some states only enable the guy who's affected to make the criticism, so in the event that they do no longer decide to *****, then you definately can't do it on their behalf.

Not only legal, it's required by the US tax code. Every cent you get, whether in tips, wages, or finding it on the street is subject to income tax.
Get used to it.

Well, ALL the tips are taxable, so you should be glad at least some of them are taxed at source.
You are reporting all your tips to the IRS, correct? Because anything else would be tax evasion.

I'm pretty sure it's legal but so not fair!
