My kitten has a little limp...?

It is a very slight limp in her right leg. It only happens when she is walking at a medium pace not when she jumps around or when she is stalking a toy. We just got her yesterday & I know we haven't injured her in any way. She was abandoned by her mother & a neighbor rescued her & bottle fed her until she was old enough to live with my family. Can this limp be a birth defect or an injury? Should I take her to an emergency vet appointment or wait for her first regular visit?

Just wait for the next visit. You say it was abandoned? If they tied it up and/or caged it, she may not have used the leg for a while, so it might have grown weak. If it is weak from not moving, it'll strengthen up as long as the kitty get exercise each day and the limp will leave. But i also agree with the other answer; it's probably just a sprain or maybe even a bruise that hurts enough that they limp to evade pain. If it gets worse, or if the kitten seems to be in more pain than before, take it to the vet right away.

Does not sound like anything to worry about. This can wait until the first

vet visit. As active as kittens are;she may have got her paw caught while using the scratching post or playing.Thank you for your act of

kindness by taking this little one in.

If it's very slight, I wouldn't worry about it, probably a sprain.

For future reference: If it was more than that, it could be broken and what's the biggest problem is if it got broken by being hit by a car and have possible internal bleeding.
