Turtle tanks filters?

Question

I just got a baby turtle and i plan on getting a bigger cage for him.
I want to get a big cage but i want to clean it as little as possible and still be comfortable for Keto (my turtle).
i know i can just buy filter, which i'm going to do, but i was also wondering are real plants good filters too, and what animals (that the turtle can't eat) are good filters too, such as sails, those crabs things etc.

Cage? You meen tank? and get him feeder fish! Is it a RES (red eared slider)?  can't eat snails but, maybe crabs. Get him about a 30 gallon. get him big pebbles that he can't eat. they LOVE feeder fish. only like a dollar for 12 fish

The best thing to do is invest in a good filter.
Get one that is made for a bigger tank then what you have,
for example if you have a 50 gallon tank, you need a filter made for a 70 gallon tank, however dont over do it to much.

As for plants and aquatic algea eaters, plants are good to have, the turtle will also eat it, so dont expect it to look pretty.
Turtles eat snails, however thats okay, they need them in their diet, and in the mean time they will help keep the tank clean, same goes for minnows, minnows are very good about eating the turtles leftovers,
and if the turtle wants to he can eat them, they also provide a little entertainment for the turtle, my turtles love chasing them around the tank.

dont get plecos, their skin is very thick, and they stay in one spot for long periods of time, a turtle may attempt to eat it but probably wont be able to, leaving the pleco missing limbs and fins to suffer.
