We have military bases in Japan. Please take Water's answer with a grain of salt. We are guests in Japan and can leave at any time the Japanese government says so. In fact, they are paying to move 8000 marines from Okinawa to Guam.

Speaking of Okinawa, in actuality, it is only a small yet very vocal minority of Okinawans that want the US forces to leave and most of them are actually mainlanders paid to protest our presence there. Last protest for peace, only 3,000 showed...out of a population of 1.3 million people....majority you say? How do I know this? I read the Okinawan government's own website and talk to my Okinawan friends and have seen for myself. While it is true that there have been incidents that make the press about marines raping women and other crimes, they only account for one tenth of one percent of all crime on Okinawa..again, straight from the Okinawan government's own website. They even say crime is down for Americans this year. That means most of the rape and other crimes are committed by Okinawans on Okinawans. It is just the right wingers want to emphasize anything done by a foreigner in Japan.

That being said, the US military occupies a large portion of Okinawa, but the leases to the landowners are a significant part of the income for the people. Also, the other industries on Okinawa are subsidized by the Japanese government for hosting the military. So, if the US military leaves, those subsidies will cease.

Blame the human beings. LOL they helped modernize Japan after WW2. And as you chanced on many regulations look antiquated and not concept out. nicely, quite they are nicely concept out. they are written to make it puzzling for a foreigner and local. in case you had complied and stayed in Canada greater desirable than ninety days there does no longer be an issue could there.? So who's the fool? A jap American, been there as quickly as, super place to bypass to, does no longer choose to stay there. Worse than residing in us of a, media controlled, human beings controlled, quietly a socialist state.

After WW2 Japan was occupied by the U.S. military. Although sovereignty was returned to Japan, the U.S. has kept military bases in Japan ever since. Okinawa was occupied by the U.S. until the 70's. Note too that American military boys have a history of raping Japanese girls. And when I say "girls", I mean real girls, like 12-years-old. The American military presence in Okinawa is resented by most people who live there, but tolerated by the rest of Japan under the assumption that if Japan is attacked by a neighbour, the U.S. military will respond.
