They even say crime is down for Americans this year. That means most of the rape and other crimes are committed by Okinawans on Okinawans. It is just the right wingers want to emphasize anything done by a foreigner in Japan.

That being said, the US military occupies a large portion of Okinawa, but the leases to the landowners are a significant part of the income for the people. Also, the other industries on Okinawa are subsidized by the Japanese government for hosting the military. So, if the US military leaves, those subsidies will cease.

Blame the human beings. LOL they helped modernize Japan after WW2.
