My internet connection icon disappear? How do I get it back...?
I have windows vista... and I've tried everything. I've searched for similar q&a's on here but I have one problem.. could anyone explain why I can't click on the network box?
below is a picture of the question I am referring to, and the source of my problem is highlighted in red.
I really don't know what to do!
I already unchecked the hidden icons, to no avail. I really don't get why it just disappeared.

Uncheck the Hide Inactive Icons box and see if your icon returns. If not, click the Customize button to see if their is an option to include it. I can only speak from XP. In my case, I can right-click Network Places and click Properties. In the next screen, I can right-click my active connection and click Properties. In the next box at the bottom is a line that allows you to put the icon in the notification area meaning the System Tray. Putting a checkmark in the box next to this line does the trick. See if you can duplicate this in Vista.
One reason why geeks like me never migrated from XP to Vista is because all that we know about XP is done completely different in Vista,

hover mouse over system tray (next to clock) and right click. Click on Properties. Goto Notification Area tab. Look under "Select which system icons to always show." Make sure "Network" is clicked. If it's greyed out and unclicable, shut down computer & restart. It should be working. I also suggest running anti virus. Just in case.... Never hurts.
