As a Notary Public, what do I need to know about performing a marriage ceremony?
I am a Notary Public (for the state of Florida) and preparing myself to perform my very first wedding/marriage ceremony.
What rules and regulations do I need to know?
Are there any Notaries with experiences?
Please help, thank you!

Florida is one of only three states which authorize notaries public to perform
marriage ceremonies.
The couple must obtain a valid Florida marriage license from a
county court judge or clerk of the circuit court and present it to the
notary public before the marriage ceremony

To clarify, in Florida notaries ARE allowed to preside over weddings.
I am also a Florida notary. I think it is cool that you're doing a wedding. I want to do one really bad!
But, you should have received a copy of the guidelines with your notary stamp. If not, I would just do a quick search of notary weddings and see what you come up with.
Also, "sample notary weddings" to give you the wording that you need.
This might help:

Good luck!

Not really sure about Florida, but generally speaking a Notary Public canNOT perform a wedding ceremony. You are legally authorized to WITNESS the signing of papers -- like marriage license -- but the official performing the ceremony MUST be a licensed public official (judge, etc) or clergy.
Call the licensing board that issued your notary license and ASK THEM.

As a Minister, I would suggest that your check with your local county clerk, every state is different and sometimes the counties differ as well.
I have never hear of Notaries being any different than a regular person performing a wedding. Where I am at in some counties it requires a special permit that is obtained from the county recorder, and in other
counties anyone can perform the service as long as the license is signed and witnessed. For the Ceremony, you can go on line and find many samples.

Notaries don't perform marriage ceremonies!! All that a notary does is witness it & prove it with his/her seal.
I take that back...I looked it up and found that in some areas Notaries can perform ceremonies. WOW. I'd make sure you contact your local government and MAKE SURE you can.
