Food import to UK - as presents?

Hi

who can give me information whether it is allowed to import self-made jam and marmalade as presents for private hosts to UK. Honestly I would like to avoid to immolate my presents to customs.

    Check with the FCO website first but normally any import food items from the EU carry no restrictions . Any food items from OUTSIDE the EU are best left well alone.

    There is a restriction on importing food from outside the EU. If you're in the EU then it's no problem

    Immolate? 1: to offer in sacrifice ; especially : to kill as a sacrificial victim: 2: to kill or destroy often by fire, Hmmm.

    Anyway, preserves such as you describe are acceptable, fresh meat and vegetables are not without specific licence.
