Author H.G.Wells......... ?

At university level, six of his works are always battling it out to be his "best". The six of them, though, are his most famous, popular, and appreciated, so you should check them all out:

The War of the Worlds, The Time Machine, The Island of Dr. Moreau, The Invisible Man, The Sleeper Awakes, and The Shape of Things to Come.

His other titles, listed by Cuckoo, are generally only for hardcore fans. Those six pretty much define him today.

Herbert George Wells (21 September 1866 – 13 August 1946), usually known as H. G. Wells, was an English author, best known for his work in the science fiction genre. Wells and Jules Verne are each sometimes referred to as "The Father of Science Fiction".

I think most people would name "The Invisible Man" and "The Time Machine" as his best, and I would probably agree. "Food of the Gods" is probably not so good as these two, but I have always enjoyed it very much.

If you like the work of H.G. Wells you may find that of Olaf Stapledon intriguing. While "Last and First Men" and "Star Maker" may be too expansive for some tastes, his other major works, "Odd John" and "Sirius," deal with the same issues as did H.G. Wells.
