When Saul swore to destroy the church of Jesus, did he keep his word?

Question

Jesus had a simple church where people would gather for social discourse in homes and supper halls. When Saul got hold of it, the keys to Heaven and Earth he gave to Peter were keys to keep people out of the church Peter and Paul did not like. Didn't he keep his oath to destroy the church Jesus made? "Wherever two or more are gathered in my name, there so am I." Jesus said. But Saul made it so there was a church with doors kept locked by a priest paid for by collection baskets. What would Jesus do? What did he do and why don't Christians see the difference between Jesus' church and St Paul's Church?

While I don't exactly see how Paul destroyed the church, you do bring up a * very * good point.

The first church was not some spire-topped building, replete with repetitive chanting and movement.  It was in manifested in simple, everyday homes with everyday people.

Our church practices the latter and we enjoy it immensely.

Great observation.

James thought that the Messiah was meant for the Jews only, Saul, a devout Jew, took the religion and incorporated the Gentiles, making it distasteful to most Jews.

Most Jews then recognized that Christianity couldn't be an extension of Judaism because of the inclusion of the unclean.  In essense Saul/Paul saved Judaism from the Christian incursion by corrupting the message.  Jesus himself said he didn't come for the Gentiles.

What Selah fails to mention is that Paul told them that The Lord spoke to him.

Your ignorance is showing, on the first day of the church (pentecost) the church had thousands of believers, by the time Saul came around it was tens of thousands
