Turks: Can you recognize a Kurd on a street?

This is not a racist question. I am curious because I can guess in over 90% of the cases if a person is Albanian on the streets of Macedonia (where I live) even when he/she is dressed in casual cloths.

On the other hand, when I was visiting my relatives in Subotica (Serbia) I could never guess if someone was Hungarian, while my relatives seemed to recognize them with great accuracy. (Subotica is near the border with Hungary and about 70% of its population is of Hungarian background).

Is it because people of certain ethnic background live in large numbers in certain states and we are getting accustomed with them? On the other hand, for example, I can never recognize a Serb or Croat.

Not always. There more people than Kurds in the Southeast region of Turkey. The people of the region, due to obvious reasons, look alike. The person which I stereotype as a Kurd may be a Turk, an Assyrian, an Arab, etc.

Because of years of intermarriage it is not always possible and I am often surprised when someone I know mentions they have Kurdish origins.Even Turks are inclined to fish for clues asking people where they originate from because they cant be sure by sight..

Yeah, its not difficult to recognize a Kurd on a street. Even i can recognize his/her origin city just by a small conversation. I enjoy to guess where they are from and i can say that i always have definite results on these 4 cities: Mardin, Diyarbakir, S.Urfa, Van.

Not only Kurds; also its easy to recognize people from Trabzon, Rize, Ordu, Kastamonu, Elazig, Adana, Kirsehir, Mugla.

    I love this colorful country.

Not everytime. Most of the time my anticipation about someone's origin is true but i need to have a short conversation with the person, to make sure of my suspition's justness.

Yes i can, for instance some are little bit brownish with green or hazel eyes, another are white as snow and big black eyes with black air. It depends on the Etnical Kurd they are coming but in spite they may look also like turkish they have their own phenotipyc characteristics that are easy to identify if you have been living close to them.

By looks, no. But I've heard that if you talk to one, you can notice a different accent when they speak Turkish. I wouldn't know this considering Turkish isn't my first language, but my second.
