One of my dogs licks the floor whenever he's nauseated. When I put him out when he's doing this, he eats some grass and then vomits.

just make sure you are not cleaning with a Swiffer WetJet. I heard a report on the news that this causes either Kidney or Liver damage in pets because they will lick it. I had a co-worker who had a minpin with these issues and when they found out they were able to get her treated. But also it could just be OCD, maybe her reflection or light and shadows. Either wa it is not a good health or mind set for your dog to be in.

Is there anything that has been spilled on your floors? Even if you've cleaned it up, remnants may be left. You also may have tracked in interesting smells and tastes that were transferred from your shoes and/or socks to your floor. Sometimes dogs just pick up strange habits and become obsessive.

Our peke does the same thing, and the usual answers I've seen including upset stomach, lodged bones, etc., just don't seem to apply. She loves it. I fear there's something in the wood sealant, or even the wood itself, that attracts her. I'm suspicious there's salt, as the behaviour is similar to that of a dog licking a person's skin. And, yes, my GF calls them kisses.

In most situations, what you are describing is an obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD) like those seen in humans, such as nail biting or constantly washing your hands. The cause is usually anxiety, although it may be genetic.
Obsessive licking is commonly associated with other nervous behavior, such as separation anxiety or noise phobias.

not sure what the issue is, but i would stop. If you and your family use chemicals on the floor you dog could accidentally ingest it. Maybe she's bored or maybe it has just become a habit.
