Why SHOULD we have school uniforms? HELLPP!?
So were having this debate, and the teacher picked what our topic was and paired us into two partners. Sadly, our debate is that we WANT school uniforms, I have a few facts, but i need more. The other team were agaisnt, DOESNT want uniforms, and they have stuff agaisnt our facts. Like for example one of my facts is: That people wont be judged by there fashion. There statement is: No matter if they wear uniforms they will still be judged by hair, and other things. So it's really hardd.
I need some good facts, and stuff to disagree on when they something. (like the fashion thing) Thanks!
10 points to the best answer with lots of facts on why we should have them!

Definitely the saving money aspect is to be considered. We are in really tough economic times, and parents need to be budgeting for more important things, like electricity and food on the table. Students have expendable money usually if they have a job, but even that gets spent on gas and other necessities.
The purpose of school is to learn. It is not a fashion contest, and no time needs to be wasted in the morning getting ready for school. I, personally, am a huge fan of fifteen extra minutes in the morning to snooze ( I love me some sleep... ) and as an adult would love the simplicity of a uniform.
Here's another option regarding the types of clothing. With a dress code, most of your clothes needs to fit a certain criteria (four finger straps, shorts past your finger tips...). For schools with uniforms, after buying the requisite tops and bottoms, those students can spend their money on more fun clothes that doesn't have to be measured up to the dress code. Because the school wardrobe is so limited, the after school clothing can be much more varied without having to worry about making it work for both situations.
Fewer distractions in school. The reason there are dress codes to begin with is because we don't need inappropriate exposure, gang issues, or someone getting distracted by boobs and butts hanging out everywhere. The addition of a uniform eliminates other distractions like clothing color and odd styles. Again, school is a place meant for learning.
From the aspect of a teacher (my personal mindset), regulating the clothing of my students is aggravating and a huge time waste. If they all were required to wear a certain top and bottom, I wouldn't have to be on the lookout for inappropriate content, length, size or gang related issues. It takes nearly all of the management of student clothing out of the picture, with the exception of girls skirts, which of course can be rolled much too high.
Rebuttals for common reasons students do not want uniforms:
"We want to express ourselves." You may still do that, in the way you do your hair, the types of shoes, socks and accessories you add. You may also express yourselves in your academic work, which is the reason for school.
... If I had more examples, I would find rebuttals. I just fizzled out, though.

wearing normal clothes keeps your mind on fashion and judging what other peoples clothes are like compared to yours when the main focus is school
schools not a fashion statement theres no point to wearing normal clothes
uniforms show intelligence and makes the school look good
if you have uniforms then randoms cant just walk into the school pretending to be students which would decrease tresspassers which could be dangerous to students of the school
less money spent trying to look good

School uniforms originally came about, to eliminate the class system.. Boys and girls in school became equal in appearance..therefore the judges daughter looked the same as the gardeners, the poor mans child the same as the rich mans child, and isn't that a good thing.

Hi,
you can debate on the fact that if
somebody gets lost like while going on a field trip
you can find the kid faster seeing if he has an uniform just
like the rest of the other kids.
Hope it helped :D

You won't worry what you wear in the morning.
You will look pretty much the same.
School is not all about the clothes.
Dress code is like... "invisible."
Uniforms are the school's choice... yeah.

-You never have to worry about what you are going to wear
-You won't be judged by not having designer clothes vs Kmart clothes
-Teachers won't discriminate against you based on how you dress, you will all be seen as equals in their eyes i.e. potential for overall grade improvement
-Saving money that would be spent on clothes and using it for things that you want like electronics, eating out, movies etc..
