How does German sound like to you?

I think it is kind of harsh.Especially with the throaty h's.I thought it was totally abrasive until I heard heidi klum speak german and it sounded so beautiful!!I think it depends on the person speaking and maybe the region in Germany.My grandparents speak german and i love the language but it can sound harsh at times.

I am a 4th generation American and my grandparents didn't teach my mother, so i don't speak it but I'd love to learn it.

The only thing I know is Ich Liebe Dich and Danke schön.I do speak spanish though.

People say it sounds very similar to English which makes sense considering the fact that they are both Germanic languages. So think back to how English sounded when you didn't speak it and you'll have an idea.

I like german a lot. it isn't harsh like most people assume. i find it actually easier than russian, because it is closer to english. i enjoy speaking german.
