do you call it "pop" or "soda"? and where do you live?
Here in the great Northeast they call it soda. in the heartland it seems to be pop. Heard a local radio announcer call it "pop" and got curious where the lines begin and end. I know this question will solve the world's problems as well. LOL
Back in the early 70's down south they used to call it "dope". Does anyone remember that?

When i go visit my relatives in korea they call pepsi "cola" and coke "cola".
here on Guam becareful if your picky with your coke and your pepsi. If you order a drink and you ask for coke lets say "taco bell" they'll give you pepsi.( i guess they assume its the same thing) Just warning you because im a Coke lover and i hate it when they do that to me. They also do that at like KFC and stuff.

I live in STL and i call it soda, but i have heard the common term pop or sodi. Sodi is more of East StL and pop i've heard in Chicago and Denver. I know that in Seattle when i was there 3 years ago they call it soda too. I think that is kinda of rounding. But in Arizona they call it pop also, as well as texas and New mexico. Some places like Idaho call it fizzy drink. lol..I thought that was funny. Well, hope it helps!

It really depends on where you live.. I live on Long Island and they call it soda. However I go to school in Rochester and a lot of people there say Pop.

In my area in the deep south, we call just about everything coke or soft drink. Like, "Can I get you a coke?" With a reply, "Do you have Sprite?"
The only time you here pop or soda is if someone is visiting or has relocated here.

Where I was raised way up north we called it "pop." Where I live now it's called "soda." I've taken to calling it "soda pop." I have seen signs advertising live bait for sale as "worms" up north (same area where they say "pop.") Here where I live, I see signs advertsing "nightcrawlers." In the area between the two, one sees signs advertising "worms / nightcrawlers" for sale.
The dividing line is Interstate 80.

I grew up in Indiana, and we called it "pop." When I was in college (still in Indiana) one of my friends was from New Jersey. A bunch of us went out one afternoon and she ordered a strawberry soda, thinking she was going to be getting a strawberry-flavored soft drink. Of course, those of us from Indiana knew exactly what she was going to be getting..... a strawberry ice cream soda! She was really confused!
Since I moved out to AZ, I started calling it soda here.
