My dog's eyes are watering and has yellow crusty stuff?

Question

A few days ago one of my dog's eyes was red and he was getting huge eye boogers.  Now both eyes are watering and has stringy clear stuff and when it dries, it's yellow crusty. 

I thought he had something in his one eye, but now that both are watering and getting yellow crust, I'm wondering if it's allergies or a cold or an infection.  

I just read that dogs doing get colds, so I guess that's not it.  It's really cold outside, so I didn't think it would be allergies.  And we've had him over a year and his eyes haven't done this before.

I need to know what to do for him and if he NEEDS to go to the vet.

Could be conjunctivitis or a respiratory infection.  Both can be cured with antibiotics.  Wait a few days and if it doesn't clear up, give the vet a call.

confident there is something you're able to do. Take the unfavorable dogs to the vet. He has an infection that devoid of suited treatment reasons the dogs severe soreness and would effect in deafness. @huge mama: are you nuts? you could no longer bathtub a dogs contaminated ear - neither with nor devoid of cleansing soap!!!!!

make an appointment with the Vet,in the meantime,clean the eye area
if hair is close ,keep hair away from eye's
do what you would do if you had gunk coming out of your eye 

But get the vet to check,Antibiotic drops will clear the eye up

Yes, he needs to see your vet.  This sounds like eye infections which will require prescription medication from your vet.

Dogs "do" get colds who told you that they don't? It sounds like he has one.
