Is it ok to not have a wedding cake?
I use to work in a bakery and people made huge ordeals over a cake from Sam's club. Because of this I'm just not big on cake but I am open to alternatives. I'm sure we will have cake but I just don't want the huge wedding cake.

For sure, we didn't have one! We served a variety of cheesecakes, and other dainties.

Its your day. You don't need to have anything that you don't want. Having a wedding cake is an American thing. In other countries, they may have a cake but its not an important part of the event. You can always do decorated pastries or a cupcake cake (i love those personally). There are soooo many options other than having a wedding cake. Just remember; its your day... don't let other peoples opinions affect what you want.

You can have a dessert buffet and a cupcake tower. Cupcakes can be as casual or as classy as you want them to be! The bigger question is how you want the DJ to handle dessert. Normally the DJ announces that the cake is going to be cut soon, so anyone who wants a picture of it should take one. This is where the big fuss is made of the Sam's Club cake, so you can tell him to skip that announcement. If you want to have the "cake cutting" moment, have him announce that the bride and groom are going to start the dessert line, so everyone should bring their attention to the dessert table. Then you two can share a cupcake and a photo op, and dessert can begin without a fuss.

You can get an amazing tasting slab cake from local bakeries for much less and have that distributed at the wedding.
Or... Have a gorgeous sweets and desert buffet with different options (from cakes to cupcakes, cheesecakes, cookies, etc etc)
Or... Have a cake and a desert buffet.
It's your day :)
All the best.

My friend had a 'fake' cake basically just for pictures. They actually borrowed it from the reception hall, so it was free and mess free. It was basically styrofoam decorated to look like real cake - I'm pretty sure no one knew the difference. Dessert was actually included in the price of the meal, so guests still got something sweet after dinner.
Might be worth checking with your reception venue to see whether they have anything similar they could loan you for the evening.

You can serve whatever you like - some people just have normal desserts, like cookies and brownies, because they don't like cake. You are limited only by your budget and your imagination.
An alternative, if you still want to do the traditional "cake cutting," would be to have a small decorated cake for yourself and your husband, and serve slices of sheet cake to the rest of the guests. Another would be to serve cupcakes, brownies, ice cream cake/sundaes - whatever dessert you prefer.

Sure-why not? It's your day so you should feel free to do whatever you want to! My cousin (at his wedding) had a fairly small cake...It all depends on what your in the mood for. Here's a link to some expensive but pretty cool wedding cakes (Just thought it might help you on your search for a wedding cake)

If the huge fancy cake isn't your style, then don't do it. Nothing wrong with that at all.
Most people will expect some sort of dessert. I've seen everything from simple dishes of ice cream to cherries jubilee flamed right in front of everyone. You can have individual desserts served or even have a small dessert buffet. Do whatever makes you happy!
Good luck.

So long as you serve something that is a dessert, your guests will be happy.
You don't need a huge multi-tiered wedding cake. Many people these days have sheet cakes hidden in the back that are cut for the guests anyway.

You don't need to have anything except the ceremony. if you want to leave out the cake, then do. my brother didn't have a cake, and it was only when we were looking through the photos that we realised. We're only having a cake because my FIL offered to make it for free

a friend of mine recently had a chocolate fountain at her wedding with all kinds of things to put in it, it worked out really well! they also had a couple of cakes that people could take if they wanted, but not a traditional wedding cake.
