Jodhpur, The Blue City. Why are so many buildings painted blue in Jodhpur, India?
Boooo... I can't believe such a bad answer is going to get the best answer. Here is a picture of the city taken from a bird's eye view.

So that no one else comes and paints the city Red.... come to think of it it is a bad answer, still the best I can do as I have not been to Jodpur.
Got any clue on why Jaipur is Pink City, and do houses there have pink paintings... maybe if a Reasearch is done you will get to know more info
