Did my cats see their cat friend pass?

Question

I have 4 cats. One of them disappeared two weeks ago.
2 out of the remaining 3 looked kind of sad on the third day after the other cat´s disappearance. They are indoor/outdoor cats.

Now the 3rd remaining cat is an indoor cat, and from time to time she seems to be looking for the cat that disappeared, and I was wondering  if the other 2 (the indoor/outdoor cats) might have seen their cat friend pass away. Is that why they were sad, while the indoor cat is disoriented about her friend´s absence.

What are your thoughts?

I am sooo sorry for everyone's loss.  :(
Pet's will all grieve differently.  But it should be taken seriously.  I have seen some not bothered at all and others actually waste away and pass from it themselves.  
My best advise is to shower them with extra attention and love.  Watch them closely for signs of severe depression.  
If it leads to vomiting, diarrhea or anorexia - call the vet right away.  
Medical intervention sometimes needs to be used.  xoxo

They just have a feeling that something is wrong and there friend isn't here anymore, so they are all sad.

They are pining for their lost friend. Its quite normal. Hope you find your other cat soon, did you try to put up posters to find him?

Pets can always sense when something is different or wrong.  They miss their playmate.
